This doesn't mean that the solution has come regarding my family member...yet. What it does mean however, is that He is giving me what I need right now.
My oldest son Jeter so enjoyed what we did for the 24 days before Christmas that he requested that we do something every morning. I admit I didn't start anything right away. It took a lot of work to organize for our activity "24 things God created". What would I do for everyday? I haven't even really been thinking about this much (it hasn't been in the forefront of my mind) but when we went into Jeter's room to get him ready for the day I knew that we were to start TODAY and I knew exactly what tool I was to use. Thank you Lord...He did all of the planning for me! I went into our guest room and retrieved "My Utmost For His Highest" by Oswald Chambers. This is a devotional that ministered to me numerous times throughout my college years. The title for today's devotional is "The Discipline of Spiritual Perseverance". Can it get any better than this??? Here is what I read:
"Be still, and know that I am God..." Psalm 46:10Thank you Lord for meeting my every need and blessing me beyond.
Perseverance is more than endurance. it is endurance combined with absolute assurance and certainty that what we are looking for is going to happen. Perseverance means more than just hanging on, which may be only exposing our fear of letting go and falling. Perseverance is our supreme effort of refusing to believe that our hero is going to be conquered. Our greatest fear is not that we will be damned, but that somehow Jesus Christ will be defeated. Also, our fear is that the very things our Lord stood for - love, justice, forgiveness, and kindness among men - will not win out in the end and will represent an unattainable goal for us. Then there is the call to spiritual perseverance. A call not to hang on and do nothing, but to work deliberately, knowing with certainty that God will never be defeated.
If our hopes seem to be experiencing disappointment right now, it simply means that they are being purified. Every hope or dream of the human mind will be fulfilled if it is noble and of God. But one of the greatest stresses in life is the stress of waiting for God. He brings fulfillment, "because you have kept My command to persevere..." Revelation 3:10. Continue to persevere spiritually.
Thank you for praying for me (you know who you are) and even standing with me as a watchman.
